| Arabic is the official language in Libya. Public buildings and signs including roadsigns use no other languages and officials seldom speak foreign languages. Hotels and restaurants are more likely to have staff familiar with a foreign language otherwise try children - they are beginning to be taught foreign languages. In the past there was a deliberate policy not to teach West European languages. |
